| What degree requirements do I need to attend MAHKU? Our master programmes are open to graduated BA-students in relevant disciplines. For more specifics consult the programme information. Can I get a grant or scholarship? MAHKU does not make any grants or scholarships available. Foreign students are advised to apply for grants awarded in their home countries. Information about grants and scholarships can also be found on www.nuffic.nl Can I work while attending MAHKU? Most MAHKU-programmes are fulltime. Some students work part-time, but remember that your work has to be compatible with the program. Under Dutch legislation most foreign students are allowed to work for a maximum of 10 hours a week. Before you can work you first need to have your residence permit card, and your employer has to get you a work permit. Can MAHKU help me find a place to live? The HKU does not have a campus system. You may try to find a room yourself in a student house in town. The schools' Bureau of International affairs provides a mediation service. For a fee this bureau will find you a room. Can MAHKU help me with my visa? The HKU provides an accelerated procedure to apply for visa. The deadline for this procedure is July 1st, 2007. How much is the tuition fee? The course fee for the academic year 2007-2008 is 9.250,- (nine thousand two hundred and fifty euros). The fee for the two-year part-time course in Urban Interior Design is also 9.250,-. This fee includes tuition, registration and examination. The fee does not include artist's materials or other academic materials. How about living expenses? Apart from the tuition fee you will need money to cover the cost of accommodation, food, travel, insurance, books, travel and other expenses while studying at MAHKU. Lifestyles and circumstances of students vary considerably so the following should only be used as a guide. For a single graduate student studying a one-year fulltime course, the estimated average cost of living is 10.000,- How about language requirements? If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence that your command of the English language (spoken and written) is sufficient for a course at master level. This can be done through a TOEFL or IELTS test. The minimum score required is: - IELTS 6,5 points with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the subtests, or - TOEFL 233 points (computer based) with an essay rating of 5. |
