INTRO

HISTORY

In 2004, a novel one-year master programme of Fine Art started as a full-time programme in the context of the topical Utrecht Graduate School of Visual Art and Design. That context offers a creative surrounding where both Fine Art cross-overs and an international body of students act as a multiplicity of inspiration.

DISCIPLINE

In addition to medium-specific concepts such as painting, sculpture, and photography, topical Fine Art fields include a variety of transmedial forms of visual expression such as the exploration of social environments, media art, and the construction of visual knowledge. At the same time, artistic research-based work is a focus in the current Fine Art discipline. Therefore, various aspects of Fine Art and a variety of topical problems and their solutions will be tackled in workshops and seminars. In addition, a topical theoretical discourse related to the field of Fine Art will be introduced and further expanded.

STUDENTS

The body of students demonstrates a fascinating mixture of nationalities, backgrounds, and interests.
Cross-over courses with students from other MaHKU disciplines enhance a multi-discipline-based attitude. In addition to Fine Art related workshops and seminars, professional skills such as the presentation of both visual art work and theoretical work in peergroup meetings will be accentuated.
