While most designers work 'top down' in this workshop Ruud-Jan Kokke invited the students to work 'bottom up'. No thinking in advance, just exploring the real stuff. Starting with their favourite materials the students investigated the possible joints. By treating the material in this way they aimed for a randomly given interior accessoire. Working in this way they reflected in action: look at your hands as an intelligent instrument, remember your principal origin when things do not work out and appriciate unexpected possibilities.
