My video work and installations are about space. These spaces unfold through the recollection and imagination of the viewer. During the 4 minutes and 43 seconds long video Home only the narrator's hands are visible. The viewer is able to imagine his own character and can open up a new space altogether.
The installation Recollection evokes involuntary memories through smells. This so-called 'Proust phenomenon' plays an important role within my work. These stimuli avoid the human meaning system that is responsible for translating all of our experiences in to accessible concepts. My spatial installations test these daily pre-programmed interpretations of the viewer and force him to search for new references in his surroundings.
