I intend to do a research on how gaming technology will develop to influence fields other than just entertainment, focusing on knowledge production and transfer.  My starting point is the existence of virtual worlds and behavior of their inhabitants, primarily the phenomenon of avatars and their use for interacting in different environments and circumstances.  I believe that this process can push boundaries of information exchange and as such probably lead to revolutionary discoveries that would otherwise be impossible or would take a very long time to happen.

So far, we have been entering the game world and bringing our real life experiences into it, shaping it according to what we already know and partially on fantasy and imagination. By doing this, we have created completely new worlds, with their own mechanics and rules, or even possibly no rules at all. What would happen if we turned this process around? What if we took what we have learned and created in virtual worlds and put it to use in real world? When nothing is impossible, discoveries will happen. We might just rediscover our entire existance.
