Tiong (1961, Surabaya Indonesia) lives and works in Amsterdam.

In his videos he functions as the distanced outsider while remaining engaged through the act of looking. His straight-forward 'observational' images, taken during his peripatetic travels around the world, are moved from the realm of documentary portraiture of the Other to that of a dream-like self-portrait through the creation of unlikely pairings and by the way his editing mediates their relationships.
