Application

To apply to the MA programme Fine Art at HKU, you need to read this page carefully. After that, you can: 
  • fill in the online application form available here for Fine Art. It is a two step process: first you register in 'Studielink'. Once you have successfully done that you will be contacted by HKU about uploading your application documents.                  
  • write and upload a project proposal 
  • upload your portfolio
  • upload all the required enclosures
How to write a project proposal 
We ask you for a project proposal that states the main subject area you wish to research and how you propose to research it. To give you an impression of what a project proposal may look like, here are real examples written by students. 
Application deadlines
Applications are welcome throughout the year. The application deadline for the 2018-2019 academic year is April 30, 2018. Please apply on time. Overseas students will need extra time to arrange for visa and funding. 
Results
Based on your application, the admissions committee will decide whether you meet the entry requirements. If you live in the Netherlands, the admissions committee may select you for an interview. If you live outside the Netherlands, you may be contacted for additional information and a Skype interview. As soon as the admissions committee has made a selection, you will receive a letter stating whether or not you have been admitted to the programme. If you are offered a place on the programme you will receive a registration form with which you formalise your registration.   

Tuition fee                                               
The tuition fee per annum varies based on your nationality and your previous studies in the Netherlands. Consult our student service centre for the tuition fee applicable to your situation.
International students - language requirements                              
If English is not your native language, you need to be able to demonstrate sufficient command of the English language through a TOEFL (minimum score of 85+ iBT) or IELTS 6.0.
